We were first introduced to Uthando SA at an event in Cape Town where they showcased the performing talents of I don't know how many groups of all ages and sexes- who performed everything from native songs and dance, to Martha Graham style modern dance to rap and hip hop. You meet creative, energetic people, and you realize that there is more that connects us than separates us. They are really trying to help build a new South Africa, and all the cliche's about townships are turned on their head.

It was a marvelous experience and non-exploitative. We attended one of their events and toured some townships and met the people there. "Uthando South Africa", is a non-profit, fair trade tourism outfit in Cape Town.
